An overall average of 80% is required for graduation. The grading scale is based on the
numerical system below:
A = 100% C = 89.87% - 86.85%
B+ = 99.99% - 96.95% D+ = 86.84% - 83.10%
B = 96.94% - 93.91% D = 83.00% - 80.00%
C = 93.90% - 89.88% F = 79.00% and below
Students are required to take any failed examination over one time. A student may take any
failed exam over without any limitation at the discretion of the instructor. A passed examination
may not be retaken. Students who do not achieve 80% cumulative average at the end of each
segment will be placed on probation for a period of one segment. During that period, the student
may receive any financial aid due them. If the cumulative average at the end of the probationary
period is less than 80%, financial aid will normally be terminated until the cumulative average is
raised to the level considered satisfactory. However, students may appeal for one extra
probationary period if they can demonstrate that the causes of the previous poor performance
have been eliminated and that their performance during the probationary period showed
improvement.
In no case will the student be considered to be making satisfactory progress unless he/she has
achieved both the grade and attendance requirements for at lease one segment before the
midpoint.
ATTENDANCE
A student must attend at least 67-_ % of the scheduled hours agreed upon in his/her enrollment
contract, or the student will be placed on attendance probation. At the end of the next segment,
if the cumulative attendance rate is not at least 67-_%, financial aid will normally be terminated
until the student’s cumulative rate is at least 67-_ %. However, as in the case of grades you may
appeal for one probation period if the attendance during the first probation period was at least
70%. However, unless the student filled both the grade and attendance requirements for at least
one segment before the midpoint, it will not be considered that satisfactory progress is made
during the second probationary period. Even if attendance rate is above 67-_% in the Pell grant
and SEOG programs disbursements will be delayed until the hours initially paid have been
completed. Second disbursements of loans and grants will not be granted until the student has
attended 451 actual clock hours.
