MISSION STATEMENT To provide high standards of education in cosmetology arts and science, in order that state licensure and gainful employment be achieved. SCHOOL OBJECTIVES Upon completion of training the student will: GOALS 1. Be able to prepare materials and implements for taking State Board Practical exams; 2. Have adequate training and knowledge to pass the State Board Practical exam; 3. Be prepared to take and pass the written exam at State Board though lectures, textbook assignments, testing and evaluation; 4. Have necessary practical and theory skills to gain employment, compete, and be successful in the career of Cosmetology and Esthetics; and 5. Have the knowledge necessary through high standards of education to become members in professional associations or enter career-oriented competitions. In order to achieve the mission statement, the following goals are used: 1. Employ well-trained, knowledgeable teachers with state licensure; 2. Provide audio-visual aids to help learning take place; 3. Equip clean ventilated classrooms with state of the art teaching materials; 4. Bus students to National Beauty and Skin Care expositions; 5. Assist in and encourage students to enter State Competitions; 6. Have in-house guest speakers and educators perform workshops; 7. Encourage membership in Career related State and National organizations; 8. Conduct Mock State Board Exam reviews at the Senior Level; 9. Prepare students for the written State Board Exam through lectures, textbook assignments, testing, and evaluations; and 10. Provide job placement assistance to those seeking employment. BASIC ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS Prior to acceptance by the State Board of Cosmetology all applicants must complete a Student Enrollment Application. The applicant must be at least 17 years of age, and provide the following: 1. A copy of birth certificate; 2. A copy of diploma, transcript, or GED certification; 3. An enrollment fee of $15.00 (cash) to the Department of Economic Development; Missouri State Board of Cosmetology; and 4. Two recent 2x2 photographs. 5
