Course Description:<br />
This course of study is 400 hours, and includes all phases of manicuring, as well as the study of<br />
and application of artificial and sculptured nails. The course includes history, contemporary<br />
methods, techniques, and products and chemicals used by the manicurist/nail technician in salon<br />
services.<br />
The first 70 hours of the course is Introduction To Manicuring and is primarily spent in a<br />
classroom setting. The balance of 330 hours is a continued combination theory and practical<br />
application of manicuring and nail technology, testing, and evaluation.<br />
Course Objectives:<br />
Upon completion of the course, the student will have met the Missouri State Board requirements<br />
to take the examination for a license to practice the art of manicuring and will have:<br />
1. The ability to perform manicure and pedicure services in a professional salon;<br />
2. The ability to use professional chemical products correctly for the safety of the consumer;<br />
3. Knowledge of basic salon business, professional ethics, and state law.<br />
Instructional Methods:<br />
A combination of audio-visual, classroom demonstrations, participation sessions, lectures,<br />
product guest artists, and supervised clinic experiences are used throughout training.<br />

Sanitation, Sterilization, Bacteriology 50 clock hours<br />
Artificial and sculptured nails 70 clock hours<br />
Diseases and disorders of the nail & skin 30 clock hours<br />
Anatomy & Physiology 20 clock hours<br />
Basic salon business 40 clock hours<br />
Missouri state law 20 clock hours<br />
Basic chemistry 40 clock hours<br />
