The 5km Study Area boundary is demarcated on Figure 4, Appendix B.
4.2.2 Site visits and surveys
As outlined in Section 3.1.1, a number of surveys were carried out at the site in 2002 –
2003 as part of an EIA 2 to inform the planning application of the extant Masterplan, which
received consent in 2005 (extended in 2010).
Various ground investigations of the site were undertaken between 2001 and 2007.
A site walkover was undertaken by the current EIA project manager on the 7 th November
2011 as part of this scoping exercise.
4.3 Consultation
Consultation is an important part of the EIA process for a number of reasons:
• an important source of environmental baseline information;
• a good method of identifying key environmental concerns/ issues (both factual and
perceived);
• can highlight new information/ concepts not previously considered and thereby
inform the design process;
• influences the scope of the EIA process, the methods used to undertake the
environmental assessments, and the content of the ES;
• a way of gauging the overall acceptability of a proposed development or a
preference for a particular scheme option(s).
4.3.1 Design consultation
Over the course of the redesign of the Masterplan, the Project Team has undertaken
consultation with various bodies and third parties including:
• Architecture and Design Scotland (25 th October 2011);
• Clydebank East Community Council (23 rd August 2011 & 3 rd October 2011);
• Parkhall, North Kilbowie and Central Community Council (23 rd August 2011 & 3 rd
October 2011); and
• WDC (various dates).
