In this record we show eleven sons and three daughters born to <strong>William</strong> and wives<br />

and we believe <strong>the</strong>re was ano<strong>the</strong>r son, but we do not have any credible evidence;<br />

<strong>the</strong>refore, we omitted him from this record. We prove <strong>the</strong>ir respective spouses, years<br />

<strong>of</strong> birth and death, place <strong>of</strong> birth and death, and any Key children that we believe<br />

conflated and or situated <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> wrong descendant l<strong>in</strong>e. We had one significant error <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> two books published, Boone Volume I and Boone Volume II. Those errors<br />

corrected here<strong>in</strong> this record. We attributed <strong>the</strong> wrong Edward <strong>Bryan</strong> to this Capta<strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>William</strong> <strong>Bryan</strong>.<br />

document <strong>the</strong> historical Pedigree and Family Record <strong>of</strong> this family <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g<br />

pro<strong>of</strong>s used to confront and challenge <strong>the</strong> exist<strong>in</strong>g Family Record and Purported<br />

Pedigree <strong>of</strong> this <strong>William</strong> <strong>Bryan</strong>, by <strong>Bryan</strong> Family researchers s<strong>in</strong>ce 1915 and<br />

publication <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> book <strong>who</strong> married twice, and had fourteen children by his two<br />

wives.<br />

Sir <strong>William</strong> Smith was born <strong>circa</strong> 1550. He was <strong>the</strong> son <strong>of</strong> George Smith and Isabella<br />

(?). He married Bridget Fleetwood, daughter <strong>of</strong> Thomas Fleetwood, <strong>in</strong> 1590. He died<br />

<strong>in</strong> December 12, 1626. Sir <strong>William</strong> Smith ga<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong> rank <strong>of</strong> Colonel <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> service <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Army <strong>in</strong> Ireland. He held <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> Sheriff <strong>of</strong> Essex from 1615 to 1616. He<br />

lived at Hill Hall, Theydon Mount, Essex England. Sir <strong>William</strong> Smith died with a will<br />

<strong>in</strong> place written <strong>the</strong> day he died December 12, 1626, and he identified his four<br />

children born to him and his wife Bridget Fleetwood <strong>in</strong> his will … as follows….<br />

1. Sir <strong>William</strong> Smith II, died March 5, 1631 He married, firstly, Helen Conway,<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Edward Conway, 1st Viscount Conway <strong>of</strong> Conway Castle, on 9 April<br />

1627.1 He married, secondly, Anne Cr<strong>of</strong>t, daughter <strong>of</strong> Edward Cr<strong>of</strong>t, <strong>in</strong> 1631.1 He<br />

died on 5 March 1631. Sir <strong>William</strong> Smith lived at Ankerwycke Priory, Wraysbury,<br />

Buck<strong>in</strong>ghamshire England.<br />

2. Elizabeth Smith - She married Sir <strong>William</strong> Spr<strong>in</strong>g on 1 November 1610.<br />

3. Bridget Smith - She married Sir Robert Jocelyn, son <strong>of</strong> Richard Jocelyn and Joyce<br />

Atk<strong>in</strong>son. She died <strong>circa</strong> January 1662/63. She was buried on 24 January 1662/63.<br />

4. Sir Thomas Smith, 1 st Bart. - He was <strong>the</strong> son <strong>of</strong> Sir <strong>William</strong> Smith and Bridget<br />

Fleetwood. He married, firstly, Joan Altham, daughter <strong>of</strong> Sir Edward Altham and<br />

Joan Leventhorpe, before 1633. He married, secondly, Hon. Beatrice Annesley,<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Francis Annesley, 1st Viscount Valentia and Dorothy Philipps, after<br />

1664. He died on 5 May 1668. He was buried on 14 May 1668 at Theydon Mount,<br />

Essex, England. His will (dated 30 April 1668) was probated on 11 June 1668. Sir<br />

Thomas Smith, 1st Bt. was admitted to Gray's Inn on 5 February 1619/20. He<br />

<strong>in</strong>herited <strong>the</strong> estate <strong>of</strong> Hill Hall from his nephew, Edward Smith. He was Lord <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

manor <strong>of</strong> Thaxted, and owned Horham Hall <strong>in</strong> Thaxted. He was created 1st Baronet<br />

Smith, <strong>of</strong> Hill Hall, co. Essex England on 28 November 1661. He held <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong><br />

High Sheriff <strong>of</strong> Essex from 1663 to 1664. He had ten o<strong>the</strong>r children by his first wife.<br />
