• Information: 1742, K<strong>in</strong>glassie, , Fife, Scotland. Jane was <strong>the</strong> daughter <strong>of</strong> mar<strong>in</strong>er and<br />

merchant David Page and his wife, Jane Warren. Her parent's married somewhere <strong>in</strong><br />

New England <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> early 1720s. David was born <strong>in</strong> ei<strong>the</strong>r Belgium or Jamaica as his<br />

fa<strong>the</strong>r held property <strong>in</strong> both places, but lived <strong>in</strong> Strood. David owned a large manor at<br />

K<strong>in</strong>glassie, which is located across <strong>the</strong> bay from Ed<strong>in</strong>burgh, and about twenty miles due<br />

north. He was <strong>the</strong> only son but had eight or n<strong>in</strong>e sisters, and was heir apparent. The<br />

family held property at Strood, Boston, Bergen New Jersey, Brugge, Jamaica,<br />

plantations at St. James Barbados, St. Nevis, and Charleston South Carol<strong>in</strong>a. Jane's<br />

youngest bro<strong>the</strong>r David firmly entrenched <strong>the</strong> family <strong>in</strong> South Carol<strong>in</strong>a before <strong>the</strong><br />

Revolution, and <strong>the</strong> majority <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Page family all came to America, and so far as we<br />

can prove reta<strong>in</strong>ed no hold<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong> England, Ireland or Scotland. This Page family<br />

established <strong>in</strong> South Carol<strong>in</strong>a no later than September 8, 1679 when her fa<strong>the</strong>r David's<br />

grandfa<strong>the</strong>r, <strong>William</strong> obta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong> first South Carol<strong>in</strong>a Land Grant located on <strong>the</strong><br />

Ashley River (pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>cluded). At that time <strong>the</strong>re were but one govern<strong>in</strong>g entity <strong>in</strong><br />

South Carol<strong>in</strong>a based <strong>in</strong> Charleston. The first division <strong>of</strong> authority would not take place<br />

until May 10, 1682 when three adm<strong>in</strong>istrative districts were created, Colleton, Berkeley<br />

and Craven. This particular Page family is <strong>the</strong> same branch as that <strong>of</strong> Francis Page,<br />

immigrant, <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Middle Plantation <strong>in</strong> Virg<strong>in</strong>ia 1627.<br />

Jane's bro<strong>the</strong>r, John Page Esq., obta<strong>in</strong>ed a patent <strong>of</strong> 2634 acres <strong>in</strong> Halifax County<br />

Virg<strong>in</strong>ia February 16, 1771. He removed to Madison County Kentucky very early and<br />

well before 1795 gave <strong>the</strong> Halifax property to Jane. Her bro<strong>the</strong>r was active <strong>in</strong> sett<strong>in</strong>g<br />
