In <strong>the</strong> name <strong>of</strong> God, Amen, I Samuel <strong>Bryan</strong> <strong>of</strong> Rowan County and State <strong>of</strong> N.<br />

Carol<strong>in</strong>a be<strong>in</strong>g weak <strong>in</strong> body but <strong>in</strong> perfect m<strong>in</strong>d and memory thanks be given to<br />

allmighty God for his great mercies and call<strong>in</strong>g to m<strong>in</strong>d <strong>the</strong> mortality <strong>of</strong> my<br />

body and know<strong>in</strong>g that it is appo<strong>in</strong>ted for all men once to die do make and<br />

orda<strong>in</strong> this my last will and test: Pr<strong>in</strong>cipally and first <strong>of</strong> all I give and<br />

recomend my soul <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> hands <strong>of</strong> allmighty God <strong>who</strong> gave it to me and my body<br />

I recommend to <strong>the</strong> earth to be buried <strong>in</strong> a christian like manner, by my friends<br />

and excutory noth<strong>in</strong>g doubt<strong>in</strong>g but at <strong>the</strong> general resurrection I shall receive<br />

<strong>the</strong> same aga<strong>in</strong> by <strong>the</strong> mighty power <strong>of</strong> God, and as to touch<strong>in</strong>g such worldly<br />

goods, as it has pleased god to bless me with; I give demise and dispose <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong><br />

manner and form as followed.<br />

I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Elizabeth <strong>Bryan</strong> my negro<br />

fellow named Richmond, my batd horse and also my stock and cattle, hogs and<br />

sheep except what is hereafter named one bed and furniture and farm<strong>in</strong>g utensils<br />

toge<strong>the</strong>r with all my household goods furniture, to her freely to possesed and<br />

enjoyed.<br />

I will and bequeath unto my beloved son Samuel <strong>Bryan</strong> one bay mare beside<br />

what he had already got.<br />

I will and bequeath unto my son Morgan <strong>Bryan</strong> one tract <strong>of</strong> land adjo<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>the</strong> tract whereon I now live conta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g one hundred acres, one cow and calf and<br />

also <strong>the</strong> first colt that comes <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> mare I will to my son Samuel as above.<br />

I will unto my daughter <strong>Bryan</strong>, One Cow and calf and one heifer, one bed and<br />

furniture.<br />

I will unto my daughter Martha <strong>Bryan</strong> one cow and calf.<br />

I will unto my daughter Elenor <strong>Bryan</strong> one cow and calf one bed and furniture.<br />

I will unto my daughter Kezia <strong>Bryan</strong> one cow and calf one bed and furniture.<br />

I will unto my daughter Ann Enochs five shill<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />

I will unto my daughter Margaret Ellis five shill<strong>in</strong>gs curancy.<br />

I will unto my daughter Susanne <strong>Bryan</strong> five shill<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

I will unto my daughter Sarah L<strong>in</strong>ville five shill<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

I will unto my daughter Elizabeth Hampton five shill<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />

And I do hereby constitute and appo<strong>in</strong>t my well beloved wife Elizabeth <strong>Bryan</strong><br />

and my trusty friend John Ellis my executary <strong>of</strong> this my last will and<br />

testament. Disannull<strong>in</strong>g and revok<strong>in</strong>g all former wills and bequeaths, by me<br />

made, ei<strong>the</strong>r <strong>in</strong> writ<strong>in</strong>g or any o<strong>the</strong>r way ratify<strong>in</strong>g and confirm<strong>in</strong>g this and no<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r to be my last will and test: In witness where<strong>of</strong> I have hereunto set my<br />

hand and seal this 15 day <strong>of</strong> August 1798.<br />
