and ageirt there for the family <strong>of</strong> <strong>Grant</strong>. As eldest<br />
lawful son <strong>of</strong> .John <strong>Grant</strong> <strong>of</strong> Gartinl)eg, he received,'<br />
in September 1703, from .Tames Gram <strong>of</strong> Gi.ant. a<br />
precept <strong>of</strong> c/are constat for liis infeitnient in the<br />
lands <strong>of</strong> Gartinlieg and Gellovie. In 1774 he was<br />
one <strong>of</strong> the Commissioners <strong>of</strong> .Suj'ply for Elgin and<br />
Forres. He died, unmarried, at Edinburgh on loth<br />
August 1775, and his testament was given n]i by<br />
his brother, John <strong>Grant</strong> <strong>of</strong> Gellovie. on 14tli February<br />
1770. But his brother auil four sisters, with<br />
the husbands <strong>of</strong> two <strong>of</strong> them, declined to Ije conlirined<br />
as e.xecutors, and renounced their claims in<br />
favour <strong>of</strong> Sir James <strong>Grant</strong> ot <strong>Grant</strong>, on 21st July<br />
1778.<br />
