in l«ii4, the lands <strong>of</strong> Pitchaisb and Foyness. On 4th<br />
September 1627 he was re toured heir in Ballindalloch<br />
to his grandfather, John <strong>Grant</strong> <strong>of</strong> Ballindalloch, and<br />
on a precepi from Chancery was iniefr in these lands<br />
in lt)32. On 31st October itJO'J, he was retoured heirmale<br />
to his father. Patrick tJiant <strong>of</strong> Ballindalloch, in<br />
the lands <strong>of</strong> Inverernan. Gleneman, etc., in the parish<br />
<strong>of</strong> Tarland, Aberdeen[-hire. He left a son.<br />
v.—JOHN GRANT <strong>of</strong> Baixindallocr.<br />
He obtained a charter from his father in 1019 <strong>of</strong> the lands <strong>of</strong> Bayindalloch. and redeemed the lands from<br />
his uncle James in 16^3. In 1621 lie and his >pouse were infelt in the barony nf Tullochcarron. In<br />
1643 he is still designed " Younger" and "Fiar" <strong>of</strong> Ballindalioch ; and in 1649 received a charter<br />
<strong>of</strong> the lands <strong>of</strong> Morinch. He married (contract dated 26th and 2Sth July 1616), Elizabeth, eldest<br />
daaghter <strong>of</strong> Walter Innos <strong>of</strong> Auchintoul, and left issue. In 1662 he styles himself Elder <strong>of</strong> Ballindalloch,<br />
and states that he is above sixty-six years <strong>of</strong> age. He appears to have survi\ ed till 1679.<br />
VI.— JOHN GRANT <strong>of</strong> Ballikdalloch.<br />
In 1649 he received from his father the lauds <strong>of</strong> Ballindalloch. and was infeft in them in 1663. In 1655<br />
be is styled "Fiar" <strong>of</strong> Ballimbillnch, and in 1679 "Younger." In 1670 be obtained from Murdoch,<br />
Bishop <strong>of</strong> Moray, a charter <strong>of</strong> the lauds <strong>of</strong> Tulcban, etc. In 1630 he tran-fcried to his eldest son John<br />
all his estates and liahilities. He married (contract dated 17th September 1649) Margaret, daughter <strong>of</strong><br />
Sir John Leslie <strong>of</strong> Newton, who survived him. He died before 16y0, and left issue. <strong>The</strong> names <strong>of</strong> his<br />
children, with several exceptions, are given in the settlement <strong>of</strong> 16S0 as heirs <strong>of</strong> provision.<br />

acquired by Colonel William <strong>Grant</strong>, younger son <strong>of</strong> James <strong>Grant</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> RothiemnrehuK, and aucv'stor <strong>of</strong> the present possessor <strong>of</strong> Ballindalloch.<br />
John <strong>Grant</strong> died before 26th April 1737. He man ied<br />
(contract dated 6th November 16^2), Anne- Franeisca,seconddaughter<br />
<strong>of</strong> Count Patrick Ijjslie <strong>of</strong> Balnuhain, and left issue one sou.<br />
Alexander <strong>Grant</strong>, who, as<br />
second son <strong>of</strong> John <strong>Grant</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
BalliDdatloLh, on 16th February<br />
