Your Scholarship in Europe 2008-2009<br />

Slovakia<br />

by the Education Document Recognition Centre of the Slovak Republic (Stredisko<br />

pre ekvivalenciu dokladov o vzdelaní v SR, Staré grunty 52, 8420 44 Bratislava).<br />

Presenting this document is an essential part of applying to the Selection Commission<br />

for a scholarship of the Government of Slovakia;<br />

Candidates are to fi le a completed application and accompanying documents for<br />

a scholarship of the Government of Slovakia (application forms can be obtained<br />

from the Slovak Embassy in Moscow or downloaded from the website of the Slovak<br />

Ministry of Education at: http://www.education.gov.sk); and<br />

Candidates are to be over 23 and under 35 years of age.<br />

Scholarships of the Slovak Government to study under doctorate programmes are<br />

granted, in the fi rst place, to applicants from among graduates of Slovakia’s universities<br />

who want to continue their education under doctorate programmes.<br />

The Slovak Republic’s Government undertakes to provide a student enrolled in a<br />

standard course of studies under the Slovak Government’s scholarship at a higher<br />

educational institution of his or her choice, for as long as the scholar is a doctorate<br />

student (doctorand), with:<br />

• A fi xed monthly allowance;<br />

• Accommodation at a campus dormitory and meals at campus canteens at prices<br />

charged to students who are citizens of the Slovak Republic;<br />

• Education at a public university of the scholar’s choice on terms applying to citizens<br />

of the Slovak Republic; and<br />

• Scholarship of the Slovak Government to take annual preparatory and language<br />

courses if the candidate has not completed second-level university education in<br />

the Slovak Republic.<br />

The travel expenses of a scholar to go to Slovakia at the beginning of his/her studies and to<br />

return home at the end of his/her studies are to be paid by his or her educational institution<br />

or at his/her own expense. If the subject of the research project adopted under the doctorate<br />

programme requires the scholar to collect materials, samples, and so on in his or her<br />

home country, the doctorate student shall pay all to and from travel expenses to visit his or<br />

her home country during his or her doctorate studies himself/herself.<br />

The Slovak Embassy operates a Slovak Institute in Moscow where you can attend<br />

Slovak language classes.<br />

<strong>SCHOLARSHIP</strong>S FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS, PhD STUDENTS, UNIVERSITY<br />

TEACHERS AND RESEARCHERS<br />

The National Scholarship Programme of mobility of students, PhD students, university<br />

teachers and researchers was established by the Slovak Republic in 2005.<br />

The National Scholarship Programme is fi nanced by the Ministry of Education of the SR.<br />
