Your Scholarship in Europe 2008-2009<br />

Finland<br />

The FIRST Programme covers all fi elds of study in Finland, as well as those fi elds in Russia<br />

belonging to curricula from the above-mentioned institutions. However, students of the<br />

Russian or Finnish languages will not be accepted to the programme as there are other<br />

channels available to them, for example, the language-training programme in Russian universities<br />

for Finnish students of Russian and CIMO's Finnish scholarship programme.<br />

GRANTS<br />

Russian students participating in a FIRST exchange will receive a monthly grant of<br />

around €500. They will pay for their travel to Finland themselves. A scholarship may<br />

be granted only once.<br />

DEADL<strong>IN</strong>ES<br />

• Deadlines for applications are announced on the CIMO website.<br />

• Applicant institutions are informed of the selection results by the end of the spring term.<br />

• Exchanges may begin in the autumn term.<br />

APPLICATION PROCEDURE<br />

If you are interested in this programme, you should check with the Department of International<br />

Relations of your home university to ascertain whether your university participates<br />

in the programme. The application form should be submitted to the Department<br />

of International Relations of your home university.<br />

<strong>SCHOLARSHIP</strong>S FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDIES AND RESEARCH<br />

CIMO awards scholarships to young researchers (postgraduates who have completed<br />

a Masters or Doctorate level degree) for further study and research at Finnish universities.<br />

The eligibility conditions, application procedure, deadlines and application forms<br />

vary according to the programme. It should be noted that Masters programmes in Finland<br />

are not considered postgraduate studies.<br />

CIMO FELLOWSHIPS<br />

The CIMO Fellowships programme is open to young researchers from all countries<br />

and from all academic fi elds. The scholarship period may vary from 3 to 12 months.<br />
