Finland<br />
Your Scholarship in Europe 2008-2009<br />
The monthly allowance is €725-1,000. The exact amount varies depending on the<br />
academic qualifi cations of the recipient and the support from the enrolling department.<br />
The scholarship is intended to cover living expenses in Finland for a single person.<br />
No additional housing allowance is paid. Expenses incurred by international travel<br />
to and from Finland are not covered by CIMO.<br />
HOW TO APPLY?<br />
Visiting researchers should contact the Finnish host university. The Finnish university department<br />
hosting the student should apply to CIMO for a grant.<br />
Applications should be submitted at least 3 months before the intended scholarship period.<br />
<strong>SCHOLARSHIP</strong>S FOR <strong>IN</strong>DIGENOUS F<strong>IN</strong>NO-UGRIC M<strong>IN</strong>ORITIES <strong>IN</strong> RUSSIA<br />
CIMO grants scholarships to young researchers (postgraduates who have completed a Masters<br />
or Doctorate level degree) representing the Uralic Peoples of Russia. The main objective<br />
of this programme is to promote international mobility in research and teaching in the fi elds<br />
related to Finno-Ugric linguistics, ethnology and folklore. It also strengthens the cultural and<br />
linguistic ties between the Uralic peoples and Finland.<br />
The scholarship period is normally 3 to 12 months. The monthly allowance (€725) is intended<br />
to cover living expenses in Finland for a single person. No additional housing allowance is<br />
paid. Expenses related to international travel to and from Finland are not covered by CIMO.<br />
HOW TO APPLY?<br />
Visiting students or researchers should contact the Finnish host university. The Finnish university<br />
department hosting the student should apply to CIMO for a grant.<br />
Applications for scholarships of 9 months starting in September should be submitted to CIMO<br />
by February at the latest.<br />
F<strong>IN</strong>NISH STUDIES AND RESEARCH/<strong>SCHOLARSHIP</strong>S FOR ADVANCED STUDIES OF<br />
THE F<strong>IN</strong>NISH LANGUAGE AT F<strong>IN</strong>NISH UNIVERSITIES.<br />
CIMO offers scholarships for advanced studies of the Finnish language at Finnish universities.<br />
The scholarships are intended mainly for students of the Finnish language and literature<br />
at universities outside Finland. This students should have a degree in higher education. Preference<br />
is given to applicants who are working on their Masters or doctorate thesis.<br />
The scholarship covers one academic semester (4–5 months). The monthly allowance is<br />
€725. No additional housing allowance is paid. The scholarship holder shall pay for his or<br />
her own travel to and from Finland.
