STUDY <strong>SCHOLARSHIP</strong>S FOR GRADUATES OF ALL DISCIPL<strong>IN</strong>ES<br />

Study scholarships are awarded to provide foreign graduates of all disciplines with opportunities<br />

to complete a postgraduate or Masters degree course at a German higher<br />

educational institution.<br />

RESEARCH GRANTS FOR SCIENTISTS OF ALL DISCIPL<strong>IN</strong>ES<br />

Short-term research grants for professors and research scientists no older than 65.<br />

RE-<strong>IN</strong>VITATION PROGRAMME FOR FORMER <strong>SCHOLARSHIP</strong> HOLDERS<br />

The Re-Invitation Programme helps the DAAD maintain contacts with its former oneyear<br />

scholarship holders and with former scholarship holders who studied in East Germany<br />

(GDR) for at least one year. Former scholarship holders meeting these requirements<br />

may apply for re-invitation to Germany to complete a research or work project at<br />

a state higher educational institution or non-university research institute.<br />

RESEARCH GRANTS FOR DOCTORAL CANDIDATES AND YOUNG ACADEMICS<br />

AND SCIENTISTS<br />

Research grants provide young foreign academics and scientists with the opportunity<br />

to engage in a research project or an extended education and training course at a German<br />

higher educational institution or non-university research institute. Research grants<br />

may be used to carry out:<br />

Research projects at a German higher educational institution for the purpose of<br />

acquiring a doctorate in the home country;<br />

Research projects at a German university for the purpose of acquiring a doctorate<br />

in Germany; for projects of these kinds, we would particularly refer to the structured<br />

doctoral study programmes, such as Research Training Groups or Doctoral Research<br />

Groups, International Postgraduate Programmes, Graduate Schools, Max Planck<br />

These study scholarships aim to provide foreign applicants from the fi elds of Fine Art,<br />

Design, Film, Music and Architecture, as well as Drama, Direction, Dance and Choreography<br />

with the opportunity to complete a course of extended studies, without acquiring
