Hungary<br />
Your Scholarship in Europe 2008-2009<br />
programmes are only granted to students specialising in the Hungarian language and<br />
literature.<br />
1. Candidates should be no older than:<br />
• 25 years (basic university courses);<br />
• 35 years (post-graduate courses);<br />
• 40 years (doctorate studies);<br />
• 45 years (post-doctorate studies).<br />
2. There are no age restrictions for the following candidate categories:<br />
• Senior instructors and researchers;<br />
• Entrants to summer courses and schools.<br />
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS<br />
An application is to be accompanied by three copies of the following documents (in the<br />
order listed). All documents are to be submitted in Hungarian, English, French or German.<br />
• Application on a form approved by the Hungarian Scholarship Board (HSB).<br />
• A certifi ed copy of a completed secondary education certifi cate (this requirement<br />
does not apply to candidates for post-doctorate, senior instructor, and researcher<br />
programmes, or to artists and musicians).<br />
• A certifi ed copy of an academic degree or position certifi cate. Senior instructors or<br />
researchers should have a doctorate (PhD) or its equivalent, and hold the position<br />
of professor or associate professor.<br />
• Brief curriculum vitae (CV).<br />
• A brief study or research plan (maximum 2 pages). This requirement does not apply<br />
to basic university education programmes and summer schools.<br />
• A letter of motivation (for summer schools only).<br />
• Certifi cate of profi ciency in the Hungarian language. Since instruction is given<br />
mostly in Hungarian, candidates should have suffi cient knowledge of this language<br />
to complete the course. As an exception, the host institution may agree to enrol a<br />
candidate free of charge regardless of his or her profi ciency in Hungarian.<br />
• Two references (one from the institution where the candidate is employed or<br />
studies, and the other, for doctorate candidates, from their faculty advisor or consultant).<br />
This requirement does not apply to basic university programmes and summer<br />
schools.<br />
• A certifi ed copy of a document confi rming the candidate’s status in the institution<br />
where he or she studies (for basic university level students only).<br />
• A formal invitation from a host organisation in Hungary (this requirement does not<br />
apply to summer schools). Doctorate course candidates are to produce an invitation<br />
from the head of an accredited Hungarian organisation offering such programmes.<br />
• List of publications (for doctorate, post-doctorate, or research programmes only).<br />
• Medical certifi cate confi rming the candidate’s physical fi tness for study under the<br />
chosen programme.
