Centre<br />

SCHloSSPlAtz<br />

In keeping with the theme, there is a second centre<br />

of the Long Night of the Museums in the historic<br />

centre of Berlin, at Schlossplatz. Three large, recently<br />

opened exhibitions on the city jubilee will be<br />

open to visitors. »Stadt <strong>der</strong> Vielfalt« (City of Diversity)<br />

is at Schlossplatz, »Spuren des Mittelalters« (Traces<br />

of the Middle Ages) on Mühlendamm and »Die<br />

Stadtjubiläen« (The City Jubilees) in front of the Marienkirche;<br />

all are accessible by foot from the<br />

Schlossplatz.<br />

Culinary Journey around the World<br />

For eight hundred years people from all over the<br />

world have been giving the city impetus for change.<br />

With the jubilee theme »City of Diversity« the<br />

Long Night of the Museums is bringing together<br />

people from all over: from 4 pm the Lustgarten will<br />

be the location of a colourful picnic. There will be<br />

pots, pans and bowls of delicacies from around<br />

the world for visitors to try. Gourmets with a taste<br />

for fresh air need only bring a picnic mat to make<br />

themselves comfortable for a culinary journey<br />

through Berlin and the whole world.<br />

theatre Anu: Auf <strong>der</strong> reise (travelling)<br />

Theatre Anu tells short poetic stories evoking powerful<br />

images. The characters in this production are<br />

on the great journey of life and report back full of<br />

hope, despite their weariness, on their search for<br />

meaning and happiness. The theatre installation is<br />

open from 9 pm until midnight.<br />

rickshaws<br />

There is a very special offer for Long Night visitors<br />

on Unter den Linden: if you show your ticket you<br />

can get a free bicycle rickshaw ride from one museum<br />

to the next. Right up until midnight the rickshaw<br />

route will connect the Marienkirche with the Forum<br />

Willy Brandt, and all the venues in-between: DDR<br />

Museum, Berliner Dom, Altes Museum, Humboldt-<br />

Box, Bertelsmann, Deutsches Historisches Museum,<br />

Deutsche Guggenheim and Automobil Forum.<br />
