Originally dating from 1706, the palace has preserved<br />

the rich decor of the late 19th century, offering<br />

visitors an insight into the living culture of this<br />

period. The palace also holds special exhibitions in<br />

BeVoice – Spannungen (Tensions)<br />

Dances of bursting soap bubbles or flashes of<br />

lightning, exciting music from an international<br />

band and a powerful choir of around 130 young<br />

people from Neukölln and Rotterdam – this is<br />

the German and Dutch music and theatre project<br />

BeVoice. This year the performance centres on the<br />

theme of tension.<br />

Built at the end of the 17th century for Prussia’s first<br />

Queen, Sophie Charlotte, the Baroque palace is the<br />

largest of the former Hohenzollern family residences<br />

in Berlin. Surrounded by impressive gardens, the palace<br />

offers a varied perspective into the history of<br />

courtly culture in Prussian Brandenburg.<br />

Gallery, paintings by Antoine Watteau and the<br />

apartments of Queen Luise of Prussia.<br />
