Red cards for press photographers and film and TV
operators, valid all over the Stadium but not entitling
the bearer to have a seat of his own.
Blue cards for technical personnel etc., working in
localities below the press stand.
White cards for messengers admitted to the entrance
to pick up press material.
When distributing press seats in the Stadium, the aim
was to give a fair and just allocation, trying to keep
the national press groups together as much as possible.
Press Attachés in Sweden were provided with press cards
and seated centrally amongst their fellow-countrymen.
Because of the rules governing all equestrian competitions
of an Olympic magnitude, only competitors and
certain officials were admitted to the field. Press
photographers, except for those in charge of the official
recordings of the Games, were consequently not allowed
to enter into the arena. Only at the Inaugural Ceremony
and during the Distributions of Olympic Medals were
selected photographers admitted to the field. Apart
from this, their press cards allowed them to move freely
elsewhere on the Stadium premises.
Film and TV cameras were posted on stands built over the
twelve entrances to the Stadium. A limited number of roving
cameramen also were allowed and their conditions were
the same as those ruling for the press photographers.

An enormous barn housed the quarters of the Swedish State Telegraph
Company and of the Press Committee on the Endurance Test day of
the Three-Day Event.
The radio commentators were seated at the top of the
press stand. Technical personnel and advisers specialized
in broadcasting were at their assistance whenever needed.
The course of the Endurance test of the Three-Day
Event was shown to the press on the day before the
opening of the Games. The press representatives were
transported mainly by bus to Fäboda outside Stockholm.
A descriptive book with maps, giving all details of the
course, was distributed on this occasion.
On the day of the Endurance test, 13th June, joint
transportation was likewise arranged for the press to
and from the Ulriksdal and Fäboda courses. Telephones
were available for the press at the controls along the
course and at the finish. The final results of the Endurance
test were given to the press without delay at the finish
at Fäboda and at the Press Committee's city office in
Stockholm. Special motor orderlies for the speedy
transportation of photographical press material to
Stockholm and to the airport were put in charge by
the Swedish Army.
After the closing of the Games, the Press Committee
was kept continuously informed by the news enterprises
of the press reportages around the world and a book of
clippings has been compiled for the archives of the
Organizing Committee of the Equestrian Olympic
Games in 1956.
