THE DRESSAGE TEST OF THE<br />

THREE-DAY EVENT<br />

The Equestrian Games <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> XVIth Olympiad<br />

commence on Monday <strong>the</strong> 11th <strong>of</strong><br />

June.<br />

The two first days <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Games are devoted<br />

to <strong>the</strong> Dressage test <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Three-Day Event.<br />

The competition takes place in <strong>the</strong> Olympic<br />

Stadium.<br />

The starting order between <strong>the</strong> national<br />

teams has previously been decided by lots.<br />

The starting order amongst <strong>the</strong> members <strong>of</strong><br />

a national team has been fixed by each<br />

team leader on <strong>the</strong> day before <strong>the</strong> Three-<br />

Day Event begins. All those riders numbered<br />

1 start first, followed by those numbered 2<br />

and 3 and so on. This starting order is kept<br />

throughout <strong>the</strong> whole competition.<br />

There are 57 riders and horses entered for<br />

<strong>the</strong> Three-Day Event. 30 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se will ride<br />

<strong>the</strong> Dressage test on Monday <strong>the</strong> 11th June<br />

and <strong>the</strong> remaining 27 on Tuesday.<br />

Five judges from Italy, Germany, Norway,<br />

Switzerland, and Finland will judge <strong>the</strong><br />

Dressage performances.<br />

The wea<strong>the</strong>r is beautiful for <strong>the</strong> first two<br />

days <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Equestrian Games and a large<br />

public from all corners <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> world follows<br />

<strong>the</strong> competitions with keen interest.<br />
