2 SMP <strong>Universal</strong> installation and configuration<br />

requirements<br />

This chapter lists the hardware and s<strong>of</strong>tware required for each component in the SMP <strong>Universal</strong><br />

environment. The SMP <strong>Universal</strong> environment consists <strong>of</strong> the following components:<br />

• Micros<strong>of</strong>t Windows-based application station<br />

• Physical or virtual source server<br />

• Physical or virtual destination server<br />

• Destination virtual machine host (for P2V and V2V only)<br />

<strong>HP</strong> SMP <strong>Universal</strong> application station and <strong>HP</strong> SIM<br />

Central Management <strong>Server</strong> (CMS)<br />

The application station requires the following components to be installed:<br />

• A 32-bit version <strong>of</strong> supported Windows operating systems. For a list <strong>of</strong> operating systems, see<br />

the <strong>HP</strong> <strong>Server</strong> <strong>Migration</strong> <strong>Pack</strong> <strong>–</strong> <strong>Universal</strong> <strong>Edition</strong> Support Matrix.<br />

• Micros<strong>of</strong>t iSCSI Initiator 2.04, 2.05, or 2.06, which you can download and install from<br />

http://www.micros<strong>of</strong>t.com.<br />

• Micros<strong>of</strong>t Internet Explorer 6.0 or 7.0<br />

• SMP <strong>Universal</strong> installed on an NTFS partition.<br />

• Available memory <strong>of</strong> at least 256 MB.<br />

• Screen resolution <strong>of</strong> at least 1024x768.<br />

• Available disk space <strong>of</strong> at least 900 MB.<br />

• Availability <strong>of</strong> ports 51124 and 51125 (or ports specified during SMP <strong>Universal</strong> installation for<br />

agent communications and iLO booting).<br />

• <strong>User</strong> account credentials with administrative rights.<br />

SMP <strong>Universal</strong> does not require the application station to be running <strong>HP</strong> SIM, but it is supported.<br />

SMP <strong>Universal</strong> is compatible with <strong>HP</strong> SIM 5.2.<br />

SMP <strong>Universal</strong> does not require the application station to be running <strong>HP</strong> Virtual Machine<br />

Management <strong>Pack</strong> (VMM), but it is supported. SMP <strong>Universal</strong> is compatible with Virtual Machine<br />

Management <strong>Pack</strong> version 3.1 and 3.5.<br />

SMP <strong>Universal</strong> application station does not support an automatic downgrade from SMP <strong>Universal</strong><br />

version 3.0. If downgrading, uninstall SMP <strong>Universal</strong> before installing an older version.<br />
