State Fire Marshal Office for applicable inspection and/or record purposes.<br />

7) Fire pump(s) is (are) to be acceptance tested in accord with Code requirements.<br />

The <strong>University</strong> Building Official’s <strong>of</strong>fice and responsible State Fire Marshal Office<br />

when applicable, shall observe the installed fire pump(s) and ancillary<br />

components, and shall witness the fire pump(s) performance test. The A/E and<br />

contractor shall certify that the fire pump installation is complete.<br />

BSRV 5.3.3 FIRE HOSE CABINETS<br />

Renovations <strong>of</strong> spaces that have fire hose cabinets shall remove hoses.<br />

BSRV 5.3.4 FIRE EXTINQUISHERS<br />

Fire extinguishers and cabinets, where required by code, shall be specified by the A/E.<br />

Cabinets shall be contractor purchased and installed. Extinguishers shall be owner<br />

purchased and installed in accordance with NFPA 10 and the VUSBC. .<br />

BSRV 5.4 PROTECTION DURING CONSTRUCTION<br />

In renovation projects where the building is to remain occupied during construction, the<br />

following measures shall be included in the Contract Documents:<br />

All existing fire protection systems shall remain operational during construction. If<br />

temporary shutdown is necessary, system shall be returned to operational condition as<br />

soon as possible and no later than the end <strong>of</strong> each working day prior to the contractor<br />

leaving the job site. Contractor is to notify the <strong>University</strong> Fire Marshal prior to any<br />

necessary shutdowns. Shutdown shall not affect other areas not involved with this<br />

construction project.<br />

All operational standpipes are to be maintained at all times.<br />

Sprinkler systems in areas being renovated shall be operational when the contractor<br />

leaves the site each day. A fire watch shall be provided at all times that a sprinkler<br />

system is inactive.<br />
