Policy: Each student will complete an independent study on a topic that has been approved by the<br />
faculty. Utilizing principles <strong>of</strong> research design the student will present, in a pr<strong>of</strong>essional format a<br />
Research Project.<br />
Purpose:. The self-directed activities will assist the student in the development <strong>of</strong> logical thinking,<br />
critical analysis, problem solving, and creativity<br />
Procedure:<br />
1.0 Under the supervision <strong>of</strong> faculty, the student will:<br />
1.1 Evaluate and appraise research literature in the context <strong>of</strong> historical, social, cultural,<br />
economic, scientific, and political information<br />
1.2 Perform a literature review and integrate pertinent information in the development <strong>of</strong><br />
a research project<br />
1.3 Select appropriate research method for analysis <strong>of</strong> research questions<br />
1.4 Analyze and interpret research literature findings<br />
1.5 Apply research literature review results to the pr<strong>of</strong>ession <strong>of</strong> <strong>Occupational</strong> <strong>Therapy</strong><br />
2.0 Write a proposal in a pr<strong>of</strong>essional manner, demonstrating pre-publication status<br />
3.0 Present the research project in a pr<strong>of</strong>essional manner demonstrating pr<strong>of</strong>essional presentation<br />
status
