Result : Five of 6 rats exposed to vapors generated at 170°C died ; there were no
pathologic abnormalities.
Vapors generated at 120°C were not lethal.
When rats were exposed to vapors generated at 120°C after removal of
vapors generated by heating dipropylene glycol to 170°C for 5 hours, there
were no deaths.
There was no lethality to rats or guinea pigs from aerosol of dipropylene
glycol generated at room temperature.

Conclusion : Heating Dipropylene Glycol to 170°C resulted in toxic degradation products
that did not occur from heating to 120°C and were not present in aerosols
