• <strong>The</strong> Sex Worker Advocacy Task<strong>for</strong>ce (SWEAT), Ons Plek, Homestead, and email and<br />

telephonic communication with Straatwerk, in Cape Town<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Reproductive Health Research Unit based at Baragwanath Hospital and in Hillbrow,<br />

Zizanani, <strong>The</strong> House, and Sithabele Child and Youth Care Centre, Johannesburg<br />

• Lerato House, in Pretoria<br />

• Wings <strong>of</strong> Love and the School <strong>of</strong> Development Studies at the University <strong>of</strong> Natal in Durban and<br />

• Amnesty International in Port Elizabeth<br />

h) A survey <strong>of</strong> some Western Cape organisations that provide services to <strong>children</strong> at risk with the<br />

aim <strong>of</strong> establishing what their service provision to <strong>children</strong> who had been <strong>sexual</strong>ly exploited or<br />

were being <strong>sexual</strong>ly exploited is. <strong>The</strong>se organisations are:<br />

• Streets<br />

• Tracing Missing Persons<br />

• Refugee Forum<br />

• Bon Esperanz (Women's Refugee Forum)<br />

• Children's Resources Centre<br />

• City Mission, and<br />

• Arise (Christian Child Care).<br />

i) Interviews with representatives <strong>of</strong> institutions who were believed to have useful in<strong>for</strong>mation<br />

with regard to policy. <strong>The</strong>se were the Commission on Gender Equality and the Assets Forfeiture<br />

Unit<br />

j) Interviews with <strong>The</strong> Aids Law Project at the University <strong>of</strong> the Witwatersrand, <strong>The</strong> Reproductive<br />

Health Unit and the Aids Project <strong>of</strong> the National Bargaining Council <strong>for</strong> the Road and Freight<br />

Industry in Johannesburg and the School <strong>of</strong> Development Studies at the University <strong>of</strong> Natal,<br />

Durban with regard to health issues related to HIV and STD transmission<br />

k) A telephonic interview with a radio journalist and a face-to-face interview with an independent<br />

researcher<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Basic Conditions <strong>of</strong> Employment Act 57/1997<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Promotion <strong>of</strong> Equality and Elimination <strong>of</strong> Unfair Discrimination Act, 4/2000<br />
