Hostname Lookup
The Hostname Lookup utility is used to perform DNS host lookups. This ensures that hostname are
being properly resolved by the DNS server.
Enter the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) of the host you would like to lookup on a name
server, such as mx.example.com. In the Query Type field, select the type of DNS record, such as a
typical "A" name host record, or "MX" for a mail server lookup
Click the Lookup button when ready to test. The name server should provide you with the IP
address for the name you entered. If the result displayed shows "Unknown host", then the name
you entered is not listed in the DNS records.
If the name server cannot be contacted, check your DNS configuration in Basic Config ->
Network. To ensure you have network connectivity use the ping and traceroute commands in the
Status & Utility screen to ensure you have a connection to the network and to the DNS server.
