The Access Office produces a Mature student information handbook and Study Guide<br />

The Access Office also hosts information sessions for new applicants on Campus, and<br />

delivers presentations on returning to education at Adult Education Organisation<br />

and Community Education Centres by request.<br />

Pre-entry Activities and Supports<br />

GMIT welcomes applications from mature applicants: EU nationals aged 23 before 2<br />

January, 2005. A quota of places is reserved for mature applicants on each course.<br />

Mature applicants do not have to meet the leaving certificate entry requirements.<br />

Applicants are assessed on the basis of their previous formal and informal<br />

education, work experience, motivation, ability and confidence to undertake the<br />

course.<br />

Students must apply through the CAO on or before February 1st. Late applicants will<br />

only be considered subject to the availability of places.<br />

Applicants are invited to attend GMIT in May for an information/ advisory session.<br />

Applicants for the FETAC Foundation Certificate apply directly to the Access Office in<br />

September. Interviews are held in late September.<br />

Programme commences in October.<br />

Mature Student Population<br />

GMIT holds aside a quota of places on all<br />

courses for Mature Students and currently over<br />

15% of the full-time students registered on<br />

undergraduate programmes are mature.<br />
