Overall SPOC administrative achievements
The 2011 school year was busy and productive for SPOC, which led to a number of first-time process improvements.
In part, these improvements were based on the analysis of survey results completed as part of
a President‟s Cabinet quality improvement project to evaluate the purpose and effectiveness of all KCC
committees. SPOC‟s key administrative achievements for 2011 were:
Revised SPOC‟s mission statement. In April, 2011, SPOC‟s mission statement was revised as follows:
In support of KCC’s mission, Enhancing quality of life through learning, SPOC oversees the
collaborative development and evaluation of the college’s strategic goals, and recommends new or
revised quality improvement processes
Aligned each faculty/staff committee with at least one of KCC‟s strategic goals, and at least one of
KCC‟s Scorecard targets
Aligned each faculty/staff committee with one of the nine AQIP categories
Created a new process for faculty/staff committee budget requests, aligned with KCC‟s budget
cycle, to support projects or process improvements associated with a strategic goal and/or a KCC
scorecard target.
For the Fall 2011, SPOC will consider improvements to the administrative/management structure of SPOC
such as staggered terms, the creation of by-laws, and the role of SPOC‟s co-chairs. Coincidently, revamping
SPOC‟s purpose and function came at the same time Bob Ling resigned as SPOC co-chair. Bob was
SPOC‟s founding “father.” He led the committee to its current standing. In a sense, his vision has been actualized
and now it‟s time to look further.

Increase in percent of first-time, full-time female students who are seeking degrees and certificates
who graduate within three years
