This course introduces students to the fundamental<br />

terminology, concepts, and techniques of digital<br />

visual composition for both static and moving<br />

images. Instruction is given on basic techniques of<br />

production, including digital still camera, as well<br />

as camcorder orientation, lighting, set-up, and<br />

operation. It focuses on the principles of using color,<br />

composition, lighting, and other techniques for<br />

overall thematic and visual effects of moving and<br />

static images.<br />

This course exposes students to the functions and<br />

responsibilities of a director as they relate to the<br />

This course challenges students to produce<br />

documentary style video presentations utilizing<br />

research, writing, storyboard, production, and post<br />

production skills particular to the documentary<br />

genre of film making. Students are expected<br />

to work in teams of three or more and develop<br />

a documentary style video presentation from<br />

conception to completion.<br />

This course is an introduction to basic drafting<br />

techniques, terminology, and symbols used in<br />

design. After having examined the language, tools,<br />

and techniques, the students learn to communicate<br />

relevant information through orthographic drafting.<br />

Dimension, scale, lettering, plans, elevations,<br />

sections, details, and graphic symbols are primary<br />

elements of this course.<br />

This course explores the theory and application of<br />

the new media environment that is currently taking<br />

shape. Students are introduced to the major forms<br />

of mass communication, including television, radio,<br />

books, newspapers, magazines, the recording<br />

industry, the film industry, the Internet, and more.<br />

Students examine a model of mass communications<br />

and analyze its application to technology. <strong>The</strong><br />

Through the course, students are introduced to and<br />

gain experience in the development, application,<br />

and evaluation of effective e-learning programs. <strong>The</strong><br />

course builds on the E-learning Design course, and<br />

focuses on options for delivering e-learning systems,<br />

and production and launch of e-learning applications.<br />

In this course, students create a video from the idea<br />

phase to the final edited master. Special emphasis is<br />

placed on defining the roles of the production team<br />

and on the execution of tasks through completion<br />

of a final project. Aesthetic and utilitarian lighting<br />

techniques specific to various media are compared<br />

and contrasted. Students learn the fundamental skills<br />

required to make appropriate lighting choices under<br />

a variety of field conditions.<br />

ENG001 Essentials of Composition or satisfactory<br />

introduces students to the research process and<br />

to college-level writing as a process of developing<br />

and supporting a thesis in an organized essay.<br />

This course emphasizes the use of a variety of<br />

rhetorical modes, appropriate diction and language,<br />

reading and responding to the writing of others<br />

and observing the conventions of Standard English<br />

including spelling, punctuation, grammar, and citing<br />
