This course exposes students to different kinds<br />

of scripts and programs and enables them to<br />

and programs to implement design specifications.<br />

Trouble shooting and problem-solving skills as<br />

related to scripts and programs are also addressed.<br />

3 Credits - Prerequisites: AR111 Fundamentals of<br />

Design, GR221 Digital Layout<br />

This course will provide training in print production<br />

technology. An examination of technology and<br />

procedures will include budget, estimating, scheduling,<br />

and the trafficking of projects. Also included will be<br />

a study of inks, papers, finishing methods, and other<br />

unique considerations of print production.<br />

3 Credits - Prerequisite: PH136 Color Management<br />

This course explores a variety of digital printing<br />

techniques. Students refine their skills in digital file<br />

preparation, resolution selection, print-profiling,<br />

paper selection, and soft-proofing techniques.<br />

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT FM400<br />

3 Credits - Prerequisite: None<br />

Students will take a product from concept<br />

to marketplace, researching materials and<br />

analyzing trends for the development of private<br />

label merchandise. Prototypes are developed,<br />

manufacturing and budgetary issues are analyzed.<br />

This course is designed to help students create the<br />

overall “look” to their productions by understanding<br />

and utilizing the different elements of production<br />

design, such as: art direction, set design and<br />

construction, props, dressing, and shot selection.<br />

Students will learn to manage the production<br />

process. <strong>The</strong>y will develop skills in managing<br />

clients and personnel. Students will discover the<br />

critical nature of pre-planning and organization.<br />

<strong>The</strong> course will explore the various technical<br />

and artistic issues that affect a project. Students<br />

will understand the financial implications of<br />

project management. Skills will be developed in<br />

establishing time lines and deadlines.<br />

3 Credits - Prerequisite: FX331 Production<br />

Management<br />

In this course, two group projects will be produced.<br />

Students will build upon previously learned<br />

foundation skills in broadcast design and visual<br />

effects by simulating a real world production<br />

environment. <strong>The</strong> emphasis will be placed on the<br />

competitive and collaborative aspects of broadcast<br />

design production, as well as various professional<br />

methods, procedures, techniques, skills, resources,<br />

and equipment.<br />

PRODUCTION STUDIO II FX421<br />

3 Credits - Prerequisite: FX371 Production Studio I<br />

This course is designed to expose students to the<br />

disciplines used in animation and related industries.<br />

In this course, students will work as a production<br />

team to continue developing the full station ID<br />

(including bumpers, trailers, interstitials, openings,<br />

commercials, and lower thirds) that they started in<br />

the previous quarter.<br />

In this course students will work in a studio<br />

environment and will focus on the production and<br />

post-production of an animated short.<br />

This course will introduce students to the day-today<br />

operations and business of interactive media<br />

design. Financial issues, business ethics, labormanagement<br />

self-promotion are among the topics to be covered.<br />

In addition, the guidelines and expectations of<br />

professional behavior will be addressed.<br />

This course will focus on the application of<br />

professional selling and sales management<br />

software packages and link them to major 3D<br />

Proper shading enhances the visual effects of<br />

This course is an introduction to computer<br />

programming from the artist’s point of view. It<br />

examines how programming is used as an artist’s<br />

tool, using examples like multimedia interface<br />

Computer simulation is widely used in game<br />

development. Visual simulations often require<br />

This course enables students to write scripts that<br />

can enable, modify, and customize specific features<br />

Students employ the pre-production process for<br />

a significant project. Processes including pitch,<br />

script analysis and breakdown, talent auditions<br />

and selection, location scouting, lighting plan,<br />

storyboarding, pre-visualization, production<br />

scheduling (daily and overall), equipment planning,<br />

project management, and budgeting.<br />

This class focuses on pre-planning and beginning<br />

development of the students’ senior projects.<br />

Students prepare project plans and timelines for<br />

This course is designed to introduce the student<br />

to the nature of psychology. Topics discussed<br />

include aspects of human development;<br />

personality theory; psychological aspects of<br />

and motivation. <strong>The</strong> course will provide, through<br />

both content and methodology, insight into human<br />

This course reviews theories and research on human<br />

diversity with a focus on populations within the United<br />

States. Examination of diversity will include culture,<br />

ethnicity, race, gender, age, sexual orientation,<br />

religion, and physical challenges such as deafness<br />

and physical size. Effective interaction among cultures<br />

requires a learned appreciation for the perspectives<br />

of people from divergent backgrounds. Through a<br />

combination of social psychology, group dynamics,<br />

personal exploration, and community involvement,<br />

the course serves to develop skills to increase the<br />

student’s appreciation of our diverse world.<br />
