Uses of The Competencies<br />

In July 1999 a new m<strong>and</strong>atory Chemical Dependency Professional credentialing process was<br />

adopted in Washington State. Proficiency in specific addiction counseling competencies derived<br />

from The Competencies came to be required. Subsequently, college <strong>and</strong> university curricula within<br />

the State were required to be consistent with The Competencies.<br />
