Uses of The Competencies
The Competencies is the foundation for addiction counseling coursework at the University of
Nevada–Reno and the University of Nevada–Las Vegas. Both institutions offer an undergraduate
minor and a graduate emphasis in addiction counseling with a number of courses developed
directly from The Competencies. In addition, all instructors and students in these counseling
programs are provided copies of the publication.
