Re-assessment: There should be on-going programmes of evaluation to assess the progressive<br />

impacts of tourism activities and developments on the particular place or community [1]<br />

(principle 2.7).<br />

The experts who took part in the activities of the European Network of Ancient Places of<br />

Performance and the MINOTEC project have drawn up a series of guidelines for implementing<br />

the "Charter on the Use of Ancient Places of Performance” Verona Charter on the use of ancient<br />

places of performance [6]. The main issues can summarized as the following:<br />

1. Facilitating comprehension by the public: the quality of public access , Improving public<br />

understanding of the site<br />

2. Enhancing the sites by using them: to enhance the value of ancient places of performance<br />

by recognizing them as places for artistic production and to use of sites as a means of<br />

enhancement.<br />

3. Managing places of ancient performance by contributing to development ;Promoting the<br />

site image by guaranteeing high standards for visitors and spectators and Safety<br />

4. Improving skills through networking<br />

Ename charter emphasize on interpretation of the access and understanding for sustainable<br />

Interpretation sustainability in the long term which must be among the central goals respect<br />

authenticity, local community and participation of associated communities and other<br />

stakeholders, where research, evaluation and training are necessity .<br />

7 CONSERVATION, RESTORATION, MAINTENANCE and USE of<br />

ANCIENT TEATERS<br />

Conservation, reinforcements and restoration of architectural heritage of Theatres and Odea<br />

requires a multidisciplinary approach [6], (ar. 1.1), and must depend on multidisciplinary<br />

sciences to achieve sustainable development to achieve a balance between the needs of visitor,<br />

audience and local community with the needs of theaters, odea and the whole site. According the<br />

international charters:<br />

1. Should respect the authenticity, principles of reversibility of theater, odea should take<br />

into account the old technologies (e.g. acoustic and light).<br />

2. Conservation techniques and material use must be compatible<br />

3. Recording and documentation of each step of conservation, restoration and reconstruction<br />

are necessary and should be published for all people who need information for scientific,<br />

tourism or academic study.<br />

4. Alteration or any changing for the physical fabric of theatre or structure should be<br />

avoided , comprehensive care for the physical fabric, cultural significant and architectural<br />

elements and design ,while infrastructure projects without effecting on physical fabric of<br />

structure.<br />

5. Regular monitoring for the physical fabric of structures after conservation work is<br />

required. The monitoring the activities of theater and the number of visitor and audience is<br />

required. These monitoring should be done before, during and after the performances.<br />

6. Evaluation for the conservation, restoration and reconstruction work are necessary.<br />
