ECON 1040 Principles of Macroeconomics 2SS 3 0 Basic theory of national income analysis. Causes of unemployment and<br />

inflation. Monetary and fiscal policies of the federal government.<br />

EDEC 1600 Introduction to Child Development 2SS 3 0 Fundamental patterns of children's physical, cognitive and social emotional<br />

development and behavior beginning prenatally and continuing through<br />

adolescence. Examines how these issues and themes of child development<br />

have effected and been effected by societal changes in a progressively more<br />

connected, diverse and globalized world.<br />

GEOG 1200 Human Geography 2SS 3 0 Examination of spatial dimensions of culture, emphasizing patterns of<br />

selected cultural elements - language, religion, population, settlement, political<br />

and economic landscapes, and human/environment interactions.<br />

GEOG 1300 World Regional Geography 2SS 3 0 Course covers economic, political, social, and cultural characteristics that<br />

form major world regions. The course addresses the interrelationships and<br />

tensions between world regions based on these themes. Course includes, but<br />

is not limited to, studies of Anglo America, Latin America, Europe,<br />

Commonwealth of Independent States, Subsaharan Africa, Southwest Asia,<br />

South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, and Australia/Oceania.<br />

political, social, cultural, and economic developments are discussed.<br />

JOUR 1050 Introduction to Mass Communication 2SS 3 0 All forms of mass communication, including newspapers, magazines,<br />

broadcast, online, book publishing, public relations, advertising, and<br />

photojournalism. Analysis of communication process and media career<br />

opportunities.<br />

LING 2700 The Nature of Language 2SS 3 0 A broad look at the nature of language. The focus is on human language in<br />

general: characteristics, acquisition, meaning, social use, and tendencies for<br />

change in language. Language is an everyday experience for all of us. We<br />

use language to convey our most basic needs and to express our most<br />

profound hopes. We rarely give a second thought to this tool whose use<br />

generally comes to us so effortlessly. This course will help you understand<br />

and appreciate the complexity and sophistication that underlies this system<br />

we depend on so much.<br />
