Course Description<br />
NRSE 4600 Nursing Excellence 3 3 0 A synthesis course designed to enhance knowledge of the relationship<br />
between health care policy and professional nursing. Explores the broader<br />
context of health care including how patient care services are organized and<br />
financed, and how reimbursement is structured. Regulatory agencies define<br />
boundaries of nursing practice and students need to understand the scope<br />
and role of these agencies. Discusses how health care issues are identified,<br />
how health care policy is both developed and changed, and how that process<br />
can be influenced through the efforts of nurses, other health care<br />
professionals, and lay and special advocacy groups. Addresses issues related<br />
to vulnerable populations, delivery and financing of health care, the impact of<br />
technology, and client advocacy.<br />

NUTR 4310 Thomas Jefferson: Gardener and Gastronome 3 3 0 An exploration of the two loves of Thomas Jefferson, gardening and fine food,<br />

PBIO 4420 Experimental Anatomy of Plant Development 3 4 0 The concepts of plant development have been integrated with the descriptive<br />
assessment of cell, tissue, and organ types that are the mainstay of plant<br />
anatomy to provide an exciting opportunity for all plant biologists. The course<br />
is grounded in experimentation and includes cutting edge methodologies.<br />
PBIO 4945H Thesis 3 2 to 4 4 Preparation of an honors thesis based on original research.<br />
PHIL 4901 Senior Seminar 3 3 0 Survey of selected subfields of philosophy. Required of all majors in<br />
philosophy during the senior year.<br />
PHYS 4051 Modern Physics 3 3 0 Designed to review and summarize the theoretical ideas of modern physics,<br />
and to examine applications to atomic spectra, nuclear and particle physics,<br />
quantum fluids and solid state physics. This is expected to be a capstone<br />
course in modern physics, so students are expected to have a solid grounding<br />
in quantum mechanics and contemporary physics.<br />
