Question 29: What else do you need in order <strong>to</strong> be successful in <strong>the</strong> Performance<br />

Management Program?<br />

Fifty-nine respondents provided 63 different responses that were broken down in<strong>to</strong> 6<br />

categories:<br />

• Supervisor Concerns (20)<br />

• Time Concerns (13)<br />

• Rewards (12)<br />

• No Suggestion (9)<br />

• Miscellaneous (6)<br />

• Eliminate (3)<br />

The respondents for this question expressed supervisors concerns, time concerns, a need<br />

for rewards, no suggestions, and a desire <strong>to</strong> eliminate <strong>the</strong> program. Approximately 32%<br />

of responses fell in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Supervisor Concerns category, which includes responses that<br />

regarded a need for supervisor feedback, goal setting, and involvement and training in <strong>the</strong><br />

program. Nearly 21% of responses indicated that <strong>the</strong>y had time concerns with <strong>the</strong><br />

Performance Management Plan. The category of Rewards includes approximately 19%<br />

of responses and contains those that suggested more benefits and rewards should be<br />

reflected through compensation and a higher level of trust between employees and<br />

supervisors. About 14% of <strong>the</strong> responses <strong>to</strong> this question offered no suggestions for<br />

improvement of <strong>the</strong> Performance Management Plan, and almost 10% fell in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Miscellaneous category, which includes responses about job security, hiring additional<br />

employees, and participating in outside interests. Nearly 5% of <strong>the</strong> responses fell in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Eliminate category, which includes those responses that indicated <strong>the</strong> program should be<br />

eliminated entirely.<br />

Supervisor Concerns<br />

The Supervisor Concerns category includes responses that stated a need for more<br />

feedback, manda<strong>to</strong>ry supervisor participation, goal setting, supervisor involvement, and<br />
