The Performance Management Process<br />
Question 18: Please provide us with any additional information concerning your thoughts<br />
on <strong>the</strong> benefits of this program.<br />
Eighteen respondents <strong>to</strong> this question provided 20 different responses that were broken<br />
down in<strong>to</strong> 4 categories:<br />
• Time Issues (10)<br />
• Benefits (4)<br />
• Not Beneficial (4)<br />
• Will Not Work (2)<br />
Fifty percent of responses <strong>to</strong> this question indicated time concerns with <strong>the</strong> Performance<br />
Management Plan. Twenty percent of <strong>the</strong> responses suggested that t<strong>here</strong> were positive<br />
benefits as result of <strong>the</strong> process. In contrast, ano<strong>the</strong>r 20% said that <strong>the</strong> process had no<br />
benefits. The Will Not Work category included comments from respondents who felt <strong>the</strong><br />
program would not be successful and included 10% of <strong>the</strong> responses <strong>to</strong> this question.<br />
Time Issues<br />
Fifty percent of <strong>the</strong> responses expressed <strong>the</strong> Performance Management Plan had time<br />
concerns. The Time Concerns category deals with respondents who felt t<strong>here</strong> was not<br />
enough time for <strong>the</strong> Performance Management Plan. The respondents said things such as,<br />
“…every minute counts. It is absurd <strong>to</strong> devote all this “official” time…” or, “This process<br />
is very time consuming.” One respondent commented that it was a “waste of time.” Two<br />
respondents felt that <strong>the</strong>ir offices were <strong>to</strong>o busy <strong>to</strong> incorporate this process. This category<br />
also included comments from 3 respondents who have not started <strong>the</strong> process yet.<br />
Benefits<br />
The Benefits category includes responses that expressed positive feedback about <strong>the</strong><br />
process. This category accounts for 20% of all responses given for this question.<br />
Respondents said <strong>the</strong> process was, “compelling,” “ideal,” and that <strong>the</strong>y were “anxious” <strong>to</strong><br />
begin. All 4 of <strong>the</strong> respondents in this category felt that <strong>the</strong> Performance Management<br />
