makes people tick? The most important sentence in
life is, “I love you.” The second most important is
“What makes me tick?” and the third most important
is, “What makes others tick?”
Because of my professional occupation I traveled
through many parts of the world for fifteen years and
met people from many different cultures. I always
asked myself the question of what makes a
relationship between two people and how they can
be positively shaped. One cannot achieve anything
alone on a business career path. Successful
teamwork is in many cases the crucible for excellent
results, meaning that you meet other people with
whom you want to and must achieve the best
possible goal together. With people from other
countries and continents you have to account for
different points of view, different behaviors, and
different reactions to your own behavior. In my time
abroad I pushed myself toward further selfdevelopment.
I took part in special training and
visited several seminars so that I could better
understand people, their visual signals (so I would
not only have verbal communication to go on), and
so I could learn more about how the different ways
of human interaction work. This was not enough.
