NATURAL REFRIGERANT ECOSYSTEMS: GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES<br />
Driven by the need to tackle global warming, to save<br />
energy, and to conform to increasingly stringent<br />
environmental legislation, the market for the four natural<br />
refrigerants - ammonia, carbon dioxide, the group of<br />
hydrocarbons, and water - is experiencing significant<br />
growth all over the world. With growing interest in HFCfree<br />
refrigerants, this chapter summarizes key end-use<br />
applications using HFC-free refrigerants that have been<br />
successfully adopted in various world regions. These<br />
applications could present viable alternatives in Canada,<br />
Mexico, and the US, where their potential is sometimes<br />
not yet fully exploited. The chapter also looks at global<br />
market trends for several natural refrigerant applications.<br />
