4.4 Capacity building and Institutional collaboration
Watershed management and development requires the collaboration of a wide range of farmers’ organizations as well as extension
and research institutions at various levels. This gives implementers access a wider technical resource base, creates better information flows
and encourages mutual learning. Watersheds serve as a confluence between lands and communities, providing ample opportunities for
members to share complementary expertise. A watershed contains producers (farmers), possibly actors that add value to produce, traders
and consumers information, and education institutions to test their joint efforts to make a difference. Watersheds can be also a good ground
for learning and demonstration of expertise.
