Downstream Upstream<br />

The soils along the Braden River are dominated by s<strong>and</strong>, limestone, <strong>and</strong> clay<br />

rather than by organic materials (USDA/SCS 1989). Hydric soil conditions along<br />

transects occurred at lower median elevations when compared with non-hydric<br />

(upl<strong>and</strong>) soils (Wilcoxon Sign Rank; S = 18; p < 0.01). Furthermore, hydric,<br />

muck, <strong>and</strong> saturated soils conditions were characterized by lower elevations<br />
