Determining the Study Materials You Need
All exams, I*STAR/Prometric and paper, are based on
current, assigned study material. As a student, you are
responsible for studying the correct materials assigned for
the exam cycle during which you will take your exam.
LOMA currently delivers study materials via published
books, downloadable PDF files, or in multimedia format
using course portals. New and revised course materials for
LOMA designation program courses will be published as
downloadable protected PDF files (PPDFs) via Course Portals.
The PPDFs will be made available in May or November. When
a new edition of assigned study materials for a course is
noted in this Catalog, you can expect the first computerized
and paper exams to be available as follows…

Students who take I*STAR/Prometric exams affected by
curriculum changes or those who want outgoing editions of
textbooks should order early. I*STAR/Prometric students
have only two months (May–June or November–December)
following the new or revised edition’s publication dates to sit
for exams based on previously assigned study materials.
English courses affected by curriculum changes in 2010
include:

•LOMA 361
•LOMA 307
To determine the study materials you will need for each
course for which you are enrolled, consult the information
provided in the Course Descriptions section of this Catalog,
beginning on page 17. Note the title, edition, and/or copyright
date of all assigned study materials. Courses that include
study materials with enrollment are listed on page 65 of this
Catalog. Please confirm your company’s policies regarding
obtaining LOMA study materials before ordering.
Past exams are not recommended as study aids and are not
available from LOMA or PBD.
Online Study Materials
Study materials for some LOMA courses are also available
in an online format. Courses include LOMA 280, LOMA 281
(online only), LOMA 286, LOMA 290, and LOMA 291 (online
only). These courses can be purchased through LOMANET.
LOMA 280, 286 and 290 online courses include study
materials and the enrollment for an I*STAR or Prometric
exam. You will be given one year’s access to the online study
materials and must take the corresponding exams in this
time period. LOMA 281 and LOMA 291 include access to all
online course materials and exams within the lomalearn.org
Web site (no I*STAR or Prometric exam required). You will be
given access to the online study materials for six months.
For courses that have study materials in PDF, enrollment
through LOMANET is required to gain access.
