Individuals may choose to take individual courses w<strong>it</strong>hin<br />

any of LOMA’s programs w<strong>it</strong>hout pursuing a professional<br />

designation. LOMA offers an examination for each<br />

professional designation course to assess a participant’s<br />

successful <strong>com</strong>pletion of the course curriculum. For<br />

information about enrolling for LOMA courses <strong>and</strong><br />

examinations, see page 54.<br />

LOMA develops a <strong>com</strong>prehensive set of study materials<br />

for you to use in preparing for each course’s examination.<br />

For most LOMA courses, the assigned materials include<br />

both textbooks <strong>and</strong> study aids. Some LOMA professional<br />

designation courses—LOMA 280, LOMA 286, <strong>and</strong><br />

LOMA 290—have <strong>com</strong>plete study materials available in<br />

your choice of online or text-based materials. LOMA 281 <strong>and</strong><br />

Cred<strong>it</strong> for Courses Previously<br />

Passed but Which Are No Longer<br />

Offered by LOMA<br />

In some cases, students may receive cred<strong>it</strong> for<br />

courses that are no longer offered by LOMA.<br />

Most of these s<strong>it</strong>uations are explained in footnotes to<br />

the tables in this section. However, students should<br />

check their LOMANET record for the most up-to-date<br />

LOMA 291 are online only. Beginning in <strong>2010</strong>, some LOMA<br />

course materials will be offered via a Course Portal, an online<br />

resource for accessing assigned course content <strong>and</strong> study<br />

aids <strong>and</strong> other special features.<br />

Student Responsibil<strong>it</strong>ies<br />

If you choose to participate as a student in LOMA’s<br />

professional designation programs, your responsibil<strong>it</strong>ies<br />

include:<br />

•Knowing designation program requirements <strong>and</strong> keeping<br />

up w<strong>it</strong>h program changes as described in LOMA’s<br />

<strong>Education</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Training</strong> <strong>Catalog</strong><br />

•Enrolling for the correct exam(s) for the course(s) you<br />

wish to take<br />

•Noting text updates <strong>and</strong> changes <strong>and</strong> obtaining the<br />

correct ed<strong>it</strong>ions of all assigned study materials for each<br />

course<br />

•Studying all materials assigned<br />

•Taking paper examinations according to the date <strong>and</strong><br />

time specified in the official exam schedule <strong>and</strong>/or<br />

following your <strong>com</strong>pany’s <strong>and</strong>/or Prometric’s guidelines<br />

for I*STAR examinations<br />

•Being aware of enrollment deadlines, rules on canceling<br />

exams, <strong>and</strong> deadlines to take an exam or have access to<br />

study materials<br />

•Reporting any cheating or violations of LOMA<br />

examination procedures to LOMA immediately<br />

•Requesting agent CE cred<strong>it</strong> from LOMA (Cred<strong>it</strong> is not<br />

reported automatically)<br />
