3.3.2.2 Lead time for Traffic Clearance<br />
Under normal conditions issue a traffic clearance to a vessel when it is ready in all<br />
respects to depart an anchorage or berth; or, 15 minutes prior to entering the <strong>Belfast</strong><br />
AOR or departs a berth or anchorage within the <strong>Belfast</strong> AOR.<br />
Note: Under some conditions it may be necessary to extend or shorten the lead time<br />
for Traffic Clearance. Guidance from the <strong>Harbour</strong> Master should be sought if<br />
circumstance warrants and permits.<br />
When a vessel calls Port Control to inform that it is ready to depart, PCO to<br />
acknowledge and give Traffic Clearance if appropriate.<br />
3.3.2.3 Traffic Clearance Format<br />
3.3.2.3.1 Vessel Outward or Shifting<br />
The following format is used when issuing a Traffic Clearance for a vessel<br />
proceeding from a berth or anchorage<br />
(Name of Vessel)<br />
This is <strong>Belfast</strong> <strong>Harbour</strong> Radio<br />
Traffic Clearance<br />
(Name of Vessel) has permission to (manoeuvre requested)<br />
At (time that the manoeuvre is to begin)<br />
Proceed when safe to do so<br />
Call when underway<br />
