3.8.14 Equivalent reporting<br />

Certain vessels such as warships or other patrol vessels engaged in various<br />

operations that preclude open communications may be granted equivalent reporting<br />

status. These vessels would normally indicate the intentions by a closed<br />

communication to the Port Control centre.<br />

3.8.15 Evacuation of Operations Room<br />

Port Control Centre evacuation – Call duty Deputy <strong>Harbour</strong> Master and Pilot boat<br />

on Channel 6 and respond as per Port Emergency Plan<br />

Fire Port Control Centre – respond as per Port Emergency Plan<br />

3.8.16 Place of Refuge and SOSREP direction<br />

Should a request for a place of refuge be received from a vessel, the vessel‟s agent<br />

or any outside body (including SOSREP), the <strong>Harbour</strong> Master is to be informed<br />

before any decision is made.<br />

This applies to all vessels including those which are designed as „Dangerous<br />

Vessels‟ i.e. those carrying dangerous substances or which by the nature of their<br />

distress present a risk to the general public, port and the environment.<br />

3.8.17 Navigation Assistance Service<br />

Note: It is not intended that Navigational Assistance Service be provided except on<br />

the authorization of the <strong>Harbour</strong> Master.<br />

At no time have or attempt to have control of the vessel. Communications shall be<br />

expressed in such a manner as to ensure that the vessel is aware that the Port<br />

Control centre is not attempting to control the vessel.<br />

3.8.17.1 Conditions for provision of Navigation Assistance Service (NAS)<br />

On authorisation by the <strong>Harbour</strong> Master, Navigation Assistance Service (NAS) may<br />

be provided if:<br />
