Transporters
‣<strong>Flavonoid</strong>s are widely-present in food and herbal products.
‣Inhibitory interactions occur with P-glycoprotein, MRP1 and
BCRP. These interactions may be beneficial for the reversal <strong>of</strong>
multidrug resistance in cancer. <strong>Flavonoid</strong>s may also increase the
bioavailability and decrease the clearance <strong>of</strong> drugs.
‣Concentrations achievable in vivo in the gastrointestinal tract are
likely high enough to result in significant interactions with ABC
transporters. This is particularly true with respect to flavonoid
concentrations after herbal medicines.
