CHAPTER 1
DEFINITIONS AND GENERAL TERMS
1.1 INTRODUCTION OF CERTAIN TERMS OR WORDS
Except as specifically defined herein, all words used in this Regulation have their
customary dictionary definitions. For the purposes of this policy, certain words or terms
used herein are defined as follows:
1.1.1 Words used in the present tense include the future tense.
Words used in the singular include the plural and words used in the
plural include the singular.
1.1.2 The word "shall" is always mandatory.
1.1.3 The word "may" is permissive.
1.1.4 The word "lot" includes the word "plat" or "parcel".
1.1.5 The word "person" includes a firm, association, organization,
partnership, trust company, or corporation as well as an individual.
1.2 DEFINITIONS
1.2.1 ALTERNATIVE SEWER
Non-conventional sewer system, i.e. small diameter gravity sewer or
pressure sewer system.
1.2.2 AUTHORITY
The Board of Directors of the Grand Strand Water & Sewer Authority and
its delegates.
1.2.3 CONTRACTOR
A person or entity authorized to perform water and sewer utility
construction by the State of South Carolina Licensing Board for
Contractors, or the North Carolina Licensing Board for General
Contractors.
