“We monitor what is go<strong>in</strong>g on <strong>in</strong> all of our<br />

potential markets. Much of our bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />

comes from the US. So we have recently set<br />

up an office <strong>in</strong> Cambridge, Massachusetts.<br />

The people there will be better placed<br />

to know what US customers want, to<br />

collaborate with them, <strong>and</strong> push that<br />

aspect of our growth strategy. Sett<strong>in</strong>g up<br />

that office there will allow us to better ga<strong>in</strong><br />

knowledge from that market, <strong>and</strong> about our<br />

In Swansea the importance of overseas<br />

networks is recognised by respondents as<br />

be<strong>in</strong>g critical for knowledge identification <strong>and</strong><br />

absorption. Through the Technium programme,<br />

a number of <strong>in</strong>ternational networks have been<br />

set up, for example, l<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g with science parks<br />

<strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>a, South Korea <strong>and</strong> the US. However,<br />
