ACADEMIC (FARM) INITIATIVES

1H PROVIDE NEW EQUINE ARENA
For equestrian use, a covered arena is provided to replace the covered
ring at the lower facility. The new Equine Arena will be located adjacent
to the existing Arena Center.
1I PROVIDE NEW COVERALL STRUCTURE WITH ROUND PENS
For equestrian use, a simple steel-frame with stretched fabric coverall
structure is provided adjacent to the existing Horse Stalls (Hangar
Building). Two round pens accompanied by observation areas (for up to
25 people) are also provided.
1M PROVIDE NEW CLASS LAB FACILITY AT LOWER QUAD
To support farm and livestock-related instruction, a new classroom facility
to accommodate up to 24 students is provided at the lower facility near
the Equine Training Center. The facility will also include offices, storage
space, and toilets. The classroom will be equipped with a garage door to
the exterior to accommodate large animals. Durable interior finishes will
allow the classroom to be “sprayed down” as needed.
1N REPLACE EXISTING HAY STORAGE STRUCTURE
A simple steel frame structure is provided for hay storage.
1J NOT USED
1K PROVIDE EXERCISER FACILITY FOR EQUINE USE
Located adjacent to the existing Arena Center, a new covered exerciser
(60’ diameter) is provided for equestrian use.
1O PROVIDE NEW LIVESTOCK BUILDING TO REPLACE FARM/HORT.
MACHINERY STRUCTURE
This initiative provides a new livestock building near the new livestock
class lab facility (1M) to replace the existing Farm/Horticulture Machinery
building that will be demolished with the construction of the new student
dormitories adjacent to Curtis Mott.
1L RENOVATE HORSE STALLS (HANGAR BUILDING)
The final FMP proposes to renovate the existing Horse Stalls (Hangar
Building) and repurpose a portion of the space to support phantom/
breeding activities for equestrian instruction.
