Any <strong>Concordia</strong> student seeking a vocation that will require them to exercise stewardship of an organization’s<br />

resources will find they gain a significant advantage from a basic knowledge of business and management. The<br />

goal of any business is to develop, market and efficiently deliver goods and services to the customers who<br />

desire them.<br />

Three additional upper level business courses, 3 credits each, approved by a Haab School of Business faculty<br />

advisor, and based upon the career goals of the student.<br />

Admission to the Haab School of Business Eligibility Requirements:<br />

Students must complete the BUS101, BUS111, and MAT111 with a “C-” or higher. Transfer students may<br />

transfer in credit from equivalent courses (assuming that a minimum of a “C” was earned in each of the two<br />

business courses and that they were taken at an accredited university).<br />

Students must have completed at least 24 credits with an overall GPA of a 2.0 of higher.<br />

Once admitted, students must maintain an overall GPA of 2.0 and must receive a “C-“ or higher in every<br />

business course to remain eligible to take upper level business courses.<br />

Students who wish to take BUS courses above the 350 level or who wish to be considered for the Haab<br />

Scholarship must be admitted to the Haab School of Business.<br />

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION<br />

Bachelor’s Degree Programs<br />

<strong>Concordia</strong>’s School of Education curriculum has been developed to be fully consistent and in compliance with<br />

all standards and requirements established by the Michigan State Department of Education, the National<br />

Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the professional organizations governing the<br />

content specialty areas of majors and minors. Successful completion of the curriculum qualifies candidates for<br />

the Bachelor of Arts Degree and teacher certification and, if desired, a Lutheran Teacher Diploma. The School<br />

of Education offers two programs, elementary and secondary teacher education.<br />

School of Education Mission Statement<br />

<strong>Concordia</strong>’s School of Education prepares entry-level elementary and secondary teachers for the church and<br />

community who are able to provide effective servant-leadership, prepared for reflective practice, and<br />

committed to life-long learning and strengthening of practice.<br />

Conceptual Framework/Program Outcomes<br />

The School of Education has created and adopted a set of program outcomes, providing a description of the<br />

knowledge, skills and dispositions candidates are expected to demonstrate in order to receive the<br />

recommendation for a state teaching certificate. Each candidate’s progress towards achieving these outcomes is<br />
