Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education<br />

Completion of the secondary teacher education program (with passing grades on the appropriate Michigan Test<br />

for Teacher Certification (MTTC) content area tests) leads to certification by the State of Michigan to teach<br />

grades six through twelve in the areas of specialized studies.<br />

The secondary education program consists of four components - General Studies, Professional Education<br />

Studies, Specialty Studies (either a major and a minor or a double major) and, if the degree plan allows,<br />

electives. Completion of a fifth component, the Lutheran Teacher Diploma requirements, certifies the candidate<br />

to serve in the teaching ministry of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The following chart outlines these<br />

components.<br />
