Lutheran Teacher Diploma (LTD)<br />

The LTD program is designed to prepare confirmed members of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod to serve<br />

as rostered members of the teaching ministry in the schools and congregations of the church. Designed for both<br />

elementary and secondary teacher education programs, it requires 19 credits, 6 of which are included in general<br />

studies, in addition to the graduation requirements for the elementary and secondary teacher education<br />

programs. Courses must be completed with a grade of C or higher. The courses might also be taken as electives<br />

by any student.<br />

Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification<br />

<strong>Concordia</strong> offers a post-baccalaureate teacher certification program which is designed to enable individuals<br />

who have already earned a bachelor’s degree to complete requirements for teacher certification in<br />

approximately four semesters. The Professional Studies and Specialty Studies in Education requirements are<br />

identical to those in the undergraduate teacher education programs. A minimum of 6 credits in the field(s) of<br />

specialization must be taken in residence.<br />

Pre-Engineering<br />

By means of a formal agreement with Kettering <strong>University</strong>, Flint, MI, <strong>Concordia</strong> <strong>University</strong> offers a two-year,<br />

pre-engineering program which provides students the opportunity to transfer to Kettering after two years. By<br />

successfully completing an individually prescribed academic plan while at <strong>Concordia</strong>, the student meets the<br />

academic requirements of Kettering with no loss of credits. In order to complete their pre-engineering studies in<br />

two years at <strong>Concordia</strong>, students must prepare themselves well during high school by taking a year of<br />

chemistry, a year of physics, and mathematics through pre-calculus. The specific courses included in a preengineering<br />

student’s academic plan will vary with the intended engineering field. However, academic plans<br />

typically include the courses below. Please consult with the pre-engineering faculty advisor in the Division of<br />

Natural Sciences and Mathematics.<br />
